Audrey Tautou, the oldest of four children, was born on August 8, 1976 in Beaumont Puy-de Domme. Her parents, a dentist and a teacher recognised and encouraged her passion for theater and acting at an early age, which was more important than a desire to be a primatologist due to her love of monkeys. Her fame grew as a child actor quickly and enjoyed great achievement. Following her studies in 1998 she participated in the French television show that scouts talent Jeunes Premiers that was supported by Canal+ and won Best Young Actress at the Beziers Festival of Young Actors prior to beginning acting professionally. Tautou studied at Institut Catholique de Paris, attended church when she was a child and was brought up Catholic. But she is now separating herself from this background. As well as her acting profession she also pursued a modelling career. Also, she is the face of L'Oreal Mont Blanc & Chanel and often called The Chanel Muse. Also, she has an intense photographic passion and has recently exhibited her work during the Arles Festival, titled Superficial. Through her photography, she is mainly focused on celebrities and the spotlight. The camera's focus is towards journalists who scrutinized her as she rose to stardom in Amelie. Audrey Tautou shot to stardom as well as international recognition with her first major role starring in the role of The Fabuleux Destin d'Amelie Pouulain. Amelie was a worldwide box office hit, receiving accolades at award ceremonies around all over the world. The film is still the top-grossing French language film in the US. Later, in the same year, she starred in British dramas, including Stephen Knight's Dirty Pretty Things as well as Jean-Pierre Junet's Un long Sunday de Faancailles. In the following year, she moved to Hollywood where Ron Howard directed the Dan Brown bestseller The Da Vinci Code.
